Ring NO. 46, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Seymour Davis Ring
Meets 7:00 pm, 1st Monday of the month at the New Beginning Fellowship Church, 15601 S. Pennsylvania in OKC
LEE WOODSIDE, Secretary. Email: WoodsideLee@hotmail.com.
The first half of our March meeting was devoted to “Spring Cleaning.” Members were encouraged to bring magical items they were no longer using and turning them into cash. We had great particiapation, with many boxes of props and books for sale.
Our theme for the month was “Green Magic,” so naturally our featured performer was Jim Green. Jim handed Kallie an empty two-liter soda bottle and a balloon and asked her to place the balloon into the bottle and stretch the balloon’s opening around the top of the bottle. He demonstrated and was able to blow up his baloon inside the bottle. Not only that, the baloon did not deflate. Kallie was not able to blow up her baloon.
Jim closed with his “Stupid Bean Trick.” He filled a can with beans and briefly covered the can with a paper sack. When he reomoved the sack, he poured blue liquid from the can into a wine glass.
David Teeman showed a green cyclinder which was hinged along one side. He opened it to show that it was empty. However, when he closed it, he was able to pull two long multi-colored silk streamers from the end of the “empty” cylinder.
Lee Woodside invited Kevin Brasier and his lovely daughter, Molly to join him on stage. He introduced them to his three tree frogs, Monte, Thelma, and Louise and said that the object of the game was to keep their eyes on Monte. Molly won all the candy bars and her dad got a consolation prize, a jumping frog.
Bruce Rodesney told the story of how he had six dollars when he got to church, put three dollars into the collection plate, but still had six dollars when he got home. He repeated this several times with the same result. He had Jim Green select a playing card and then he played a video on his notepad that predicted the card Jim would choose.
Joe Coover showed us some magic that he said he had done 10,000 times, in several countries. He borrowed a wedding ring from Rick Martin, put the ring on his finger, and then removed it. However, the ring appeared back on his finger.
Joe invited Shaun Clark to join him “on stage.” He brought out a piece of string and performed a multi-phase routine with the ring and the string. The climax was when he placed the ring on the string and had Shaun and Daniel Buster hold the two ends. Joe was able to free the ring from the string.
