I was unable to attend the August meeting, so my thanks to Jim Short and Al Frejo for taking notes for the Ring Report.
Our August meeting began with a discussion of our annual club fundraiser show. This show, known as Pandemonium, has been a club staple for many years and serves not only as a fundraiser but also as a means to feature our fine local talent. It will be held September 29 at the Cambria Suites in Oklahoma City and will start at 7:00pm.
We have some impressive lecturers on the horizon. Those with confirmed dates include Dan Garrett on August 29th and Danny Archer on September 24th. We also will have Shoot Ogawa on an as-yet-to-be-determined date in November.
There was an interesting discussion about show disasters and how (or if) the performer overcame them. There were funny stories about needles that just refused to go through balloons, spectators stealing props, and the occasional vanishing spectator (not the intended effect) needed for the finale of an act.
There was only one member performance, but it was quite good. J David Teeman and Ashlee Abel previewed one and a half of the routines they will be doing in the Pandemonium show mentioned earlier. The first act is called “Circular Synchronicity” and is a two-person linking ring routine. They also did the first half of the act they call “The Most Amazing Magic Trick In The Entire World”. It was more than half amazing.
