Lance Pierce was our featured performer for the month of March. Lance dazzled us with his coin and card magic. His routines included Vernon’s “Chinese Classic”, “PDQ Coins Across”, “Sun and Moon”, and his very own “A Minor Invention”.
When a card was selected and then lost in the deck, Lance asked for four chances to find it. He cut four times, but alas, each cut produced another Ace. He then removed the chosen card from his pocket.
Lance concluded with his mesmerizing linking ring routine. Using six rings, he held the audience spellbound as he recited poetry that perfectly fit the magic that was happening. It was the most magical linking ring performance that I have ever witnessed and I’ve seen some of the best.
Joe Coover brought boxes and boxes of magical magazines and offered them to the members. The magazines quickly found new homes. Joe asked that if they could not be passed on to other magicians, that they be recycled rather than trashed.
Following a very brief business meeting, Lance Pierce presented a workshop on his “Recharmed, I’m Sure” routine using Chinese coins and a string. Lance emphasized that powerful magic can be achieved with relatively easy sleights. He proved his point by showing how solid coins could melt through a string in his well-thought-out routine.
No time was left for member performances. That was ok with everyone, because no one wanted to follow Lance.
