Through the magic of video technology that we now take for granted, our featured performers for February were Seymour Davis and Jim Smithson. Seymour is our club’s namesake and very few of our current members got the chance to know him. It was a treat to watch him perform a signature effect of his, the production of a large American flag on a long flagstaff from a small box.
Most of us remember Jim Smithson and still miss him. Jim performed his “doggy bag” routine for a child from the audience and concluded by giving the child a balloon dog to take home.
Copies of the Ring’s 2014 Grimoire were offered for sale, hot of the press from the editor, Malaki. This year’s contributors were Malaki, Joe Diggle, Dayna Davis Savage, Lee Woodside, and Myra Woodside, who each received a free copy.
Lee Woodside played a game of Tic-Tac-Toe with President William Rader with the game ending in a draw. However, Lee pulled a prediction from the envelope that showed he had exactly predicted the way the game would play out.
David Teeman performed a 6-card repeat using UNO cards. Derrick Beeson performed a very nice linking ring routine with a set of four small rings. He even invited his audience participant, Zach Heath to perform one of the links.
Randy Carter showed us some of the magic he performs for children, including sponge balls and a color-changing shoelace.
Cassidy Smith performed a very nice coins across routine, which he credited to David Roth.
