Our July Ice Cream Social had a good turnout of magicians, but very few plus-ones. The Ring provided everything for banana splits, root beer floats, or just a selection of several delicious ice creams. It was a great chance to cool off on a hot summer day and talk magic.
Kevin Brasier’s daughters Kallie and Mollie threw him a surprise birthday party at Jonathon’s Magic Theatre in South OKC. Several magicians were in attendance in addition to Kevin’s family and non-magic friends. Kallie and Mollie went all out in providing delicious food and drinks. Several magicians provided entertainment, including Michael “One-Man Circus” King, Jonathon Gerald Pansze, and Lee Woodside. Kevin Brasier closed the show with his own magic after the other performers had finished.
Our August meeting was our annual flea market and auction. The problem was that a number of magicians brought money to spend on magic props and books, but only two brought anything to sell. The first item up for auction was a set of Adam’s linking rings that had originally been sold at Disney World and were rescued from an estate sale by Rick Martin. Auctioneer Lee Woodside managed to get the bidding up to $5.00 before the gavel dropped. Vice President Justin Teeman had brought a number of books and lecture notes and these were sold after some frenzied bidding. It was our shortest auction in the history of Ring 46.
